Bengt Elde (1939-2015) was born in Stockholm, Sweden and the son of a priest and a graduate of the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, Konstfack. He is known to fill his mediums with life, movement, happiness and the Swedish spirit. Elde was self-taught despite his time at Konstfack. For over 50 years, his life has been full of painting. His detailed and brilliantly coloured art cannot help but one in a good mood. Some called him a naivistic colourist, he preferred being called a picture painter.
His pictures are detailed, colorful, imaginative, full of fantasy and fun
Often flowers, views of Stockholm or the archipelago, summer or winter, and those recurring little critters. His art is folksy and easy to love. His pictures have been made into table mats, coasters, trays, calendars, postcards… and pictures of course.
