House God - ED 300 - 2021
In the book 'Guide to God', Ulrica said: "For safety's sake, I have my own house god. She sits on the gatepost of our house and guards. I have a curiosity about death, maybe then a God will appear? I miss no God, but would probably be happy if I discovered he existed. ”
This year's "House God" is inspired by the nymph parakeet Petito, which is a recurring source of inspiration in Ulrica's objects. The bird lived with the Hydman Vallien family and flew freely between their shoulders. One day Petito disappeared when a sudden thunderclap scared him away. He never came back.
Husgud is a fine collector's item that has been manufactured every year since 2019 characterized by Ulrica's various sources of inspiration. The house god is punctually pressed, the glass is then pressed into a mold, and the beak is shaped and attached afterwards. The decor is hand-painted by the stained glass painter Charlotta Kjellander.
Husgud is produced in a limited edition of 300 pieces.

She was the embodiment of Swedish glass art. No Swedish artist can claim anywhere near the popularity of Ulrica Hydman Vallien. Whether collection or one-of-a-kind pieces, she put the same passion into every work of her hands. With motifs from the innermost corners of human life, she has created a narrative glass art form with feminist and Biblical touches, alongside her utility glass. Tulips and snakes figure repeatedly in her own Paradise works. Assertive, controversial, beloved.
